So remember those Cedar Point photos? Remember how I said I took one and I was really excited about it? I entered it in the Weather.com "It's Amazing Out There" photo contest. If you go to the link below, you'll see my entry. The grand prize is $15,000. The photo was taken with my Samsung Galaxy III. It looks like it was taken at night with the moon in back of Valravn, but it wasn't. For some strange reason, in the thumbnail you can see the sun, but when I tap on it, in the picture, the sun is behind the coaster train. I really like the way this turned out. No filters, no special effects. I think I had the cameraphone on multi-shot, because I can't imagine I would have taken one shot and nailed it. It's really kind of freaky, because the other shots show a perfectly clear sky with bright sunshine, and this looks like it was taken at night. That's why I named it "Fauxlar Eclipse." I've been to Cedar Point twice in a couple weeks. I'm trying to do things that make me happy. This summer, that includes working in my yard, having two gardens, and swimming. I've taken some pictures I really like, and I just entered a contest a few minutes ago with a photo I took at Cedar Point. Voting takes place starting in August, and I've bookmarked the page with my photo. I'm also going to enter the photo in the Artlink Member's Show. Anyway, here are a few pictures from my last trip. For some reason, I've become fascinated with eclipse-looking pictures. The one I submitted to the contest looks almost exactly like this, but it looks like it was taken at night. For some reason, I'm obsessed with eclipses and pictures that look like eclipses. This is Valravn, the new dive coaster. I have another picture like this that's really cool. Maybe I'll share it. It was the most perfect weather at CP that day. I like water, so I took a walk on the beach. Another eclipse-type picture. Millennium Force after closing. This is the best roller coaster in the world. Gatekeeper, after closing. It was a great day.

I went to Cedar Point again on Wednesday. It was probably one of the best CP trips ever, but it was great in a bizarre way. Everything seemed opposite of what usually happens. What went on? Well, I'll tell you! Hot weather --After one of the coldest, wettest summers I can remember, the September 2 Sandusky, Ohio, forecast called for 87 degrees and sunny. I didn't have to work that day, so I decided to go. The strange thing about this is despite mostly clear skies, it sprinkled a bit. These are obviously not rain clouds. You can't tell, but it WAS sprinkling. One of the Millennium Force ride hosts asked me if it was raining, and I said, yes, but couldn't understand how or why. There were what looked like thunderheads a few miles away, but could drops travel that far? I guess so. It felt right to experience Cedar Point on a day you might actually drop from heat stroke. I picked up a bottle before heading off. Why is it that I can't ever find my name on a Coke bottle? Yadira??? #guessimjustnotethnicenoughanymore Front row Millennium Force. I wish I could bottle the feeling I get after I ride this coaster. It's one of the best feelings in the world. When my time came to board, some guy sitting in back of me asked me if I was by myself. I said I was, but the front seat was MINE. No way was his kid gonna deprive me of my front row bliss. Riding front row is the closest you can feel like you're a bird, and that you can FLY. There aren't any shoulder harnesses--just a seat belt and lap bar. And you feel like you're going to fall out once you go down that first hill. Scary and blissful at the same time.
